Vipin Gupta
Managing Director & Founder
Formerly Country Head, Cherrington Corporation — the American company that invented Horizontal Directional Drilling.
Founder Vision
A legacy built on pioneering underground engineering.
Vipin, after completing his mechanical engineering degree, began his career with Charrington Inc., the pioneering American company widely credited as the original innovators of horizontal directional drilling technology. Working alongside Charrington's founders, he absorbed not just the engineering principles but the innovation philosophy that designed the early drilling industry. Over the years, he graduated from being a design engineer to a downhole steering engineer, a project engineer, a project manager, and finally, the country head.
There are few people in the world who have lived trenchless technology as deeply as Vipin Gupta. His is not a story of someone who entered an industry — it is the story of someone who helped build one.
In year 2000, he founded TESPL — not as a contractor, but as an engineering services company. The early years were spent consulting on complex HDD projects across Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Bangladesh, and India. Recognising India's growing appetite for underground infrastructure, he made a decisive shift into full-scale contracting. He committed his own funds, acquired a 15-ton HDD rig from the United States, and reinvested every rupee of profit back into the fleet.
Today, that fleet stands at 25+ HDD rig spreads & 11+ MT rig spreads. The project list spans 9+ countries. TESPL has executed some of the most technically demanding trenchless installations in the world — from the Brahmaputra and the Gangas to sea outfalls in coastal India and offshore wind installations in Taiwan. What has never changed is the founding philosophy: there is no substitute for experience.
