Back to Projects GalleryExecution & Technical Scope
The Ganga river crossing at 4,027 metres was, at time of completion, the world's longest 26" HDD river bore — a record subsequently surpassed by TESPL's own Brahmaputra crossing in 2026.
The crossing was executed using the intersection method — two independent bores drilled from opposite banks to meet precisely underground — deployed across 4 kilometres of alluvial geology comprising sand, silt, and small gravel. Two 1100 American Auger rigs were deployed simultaneously, supported by TESPL's 500-tonne proprietary pipe thruster to manage pullback loads at this distance and diameter. The project was completed in 76 days — a record duration for a crossing of this scale and complexity.
