Fugale Hill
950m / 24" / L&T / Maharashtra, India
Back to Projects GalleryExecution & Technical Scope
The Fugale Hill crossing is, to TESPL's knowledge, the first HDD crossing of this profile ever executed globally — a J-profile bore through hard rock with a 181-metre elevation difference between rig side and pipe side, at a 13-degree angle, over 950 metres. The geology presented compressive strength of 153 MPa throughout — among the hardest rock conditions encountered in HDD operations in India. The combination of hard rock, a steep ascending profile, and the resulting gravitational and friction loads on the pipe string required deployment of TESPL's proprietary 500-tonne pipe thruster to complete the pullback. The crossing was completed for L&T over 230 days.
