Yamuna River Crossing
3,021m / 30" main line + 6" auxiliary line / Indian Oil Corporation / Uttar Pradesh, India
Back to Projects GalleryExecution & Technical Scope
The Yamuna river crossing presented a compound technical challenge — a 3,021 metre bore incorporating a 22-degree horizontal curve, executed using the intersection method across sand and silt geology. A horizontal curve of this magnitude at this distance requires precise steering control and careful management of pipe stress through the curved section. The intersection method added a further layer of complexity — two independent bores required to meet underground with accuracy across the full 3-kilometre span. Three pieces of equipment were deployed in combination: DD 1100 American Auger rigs, an HK-400, and TESPL's proprietary 500-tonne pipe thruster. The project was completed for Indian Oil Corporation in 55 days.
