Back to Projects GalleryProject Overview
Execution & Technical Scope
The Brahmaputra river crossing at 4,058 metres is the world's longest 26" HDD river bore. The crossing was executed across the full width of the Brahmaputra — one of Asia's largest river systems — in flood-prone conditions, with sand and silt geology on one side incorporating small gravel. Two 500-tonne rigs were deployed simultaneously, supplemented by TESPL's proprietary 500-tonne pipe thruster to manage the pullback loads over the 4-kilometre distance. The crossing was completed for Numaligarh Refinery Ltd and Engineers India Ltd as part of a national petroleum pipeline programme.
